Eagle activities and crafts will be offered in the lobby at the nature center. Staff from Dickerson Park Zoo will be offering live eagle presentations at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. Stop by and participate. Then, pick up a map to two wild eagle viewing sites. These locations will be staffed and you will be able to use high-powered scopes and binoculars to view eagles (weather permitting). Bundle up and come on out.  All ages, no registration is required.

Every Saturday and Sunday afternoon June 30 through August 19  you can enjoy a free guided tour of Connor’s Cave using park lights and helmets. Walk the Devil’s Icebox Trail on your own until you reach Devil’s Icebox where volunteers will assist you. Learn about caves and bats. Tours last about 15 minutes. Expect to get your feet wet!  Arrive anytime between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.  Reservations are not required.  The tours are recommended for ages 5 and up.

The Second Annual Fishing Derby will be held at Philips Park on June 30, 2012. Registration will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and the derby will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded by categories divided by age with prizes awarded for the first fish caught, largest, and smallest fish.  Fishing licenses are required for those ages 16 to 64.

The Columbia Parks and Recreation will once again hold Family Fun Fests in 2012!  They are held on the third Wednesday of the month and offer entertainment for the whole family! There will be lots of activities, a bounce house, face painting and much more!  Every month a new theme will be featured.

June’s theme is Explore Outdoors! You’ll enjoy an evening of fun with nature. You can learn about Missouri fish, birds, camping and more!
