Bring your kites and let’s have a great time! This is a great chance for parents to fly kites with your children and family just like the good ole days! A number of kites will be given to children that do not have one to fly. Contest categories are Largest Flying Kite, Smallest Flying Kite & the Highest Flyer. Prizes will be awarded to winners. Eric Vaughn MagicianOn Tuesday, July 31, 2012 you can check out Eric Vaughn courtesy of the Columbia Public Library. His comedic approach to magic keeps his audiences laughing and scratching their heads at the same time. Eric’s passion for magic started when he was ten years old. This show is for  ages 5 and older.

You can also check Eric Vaughn’s show at the Callaway County Public Library (2 p.m.) or the American Legion Hall in Ashland (6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.).

Fishing Derby 9:00 – 12:00 p.m.
Philips Park, Columbia
The Second Annual Fishing Derby will be held at Philips Park on June 30, 2012. Registration will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and the derby will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded by categories divided by age with prizes awarded for the first fish caught, largest, and smallest fish.  Fishing licenses are required for those ages 16 to 64.

If you want to rekindle your interest in building models or if you want to introduce the hobby to your kids, then join us for demonstrations on building techniques. Kids 10 years and older with parental supervision can make a model to take home. You will need to register for the building portion of the program, but the demonstrations are open to all. Presented by the Central Missouri Scale Modelers. Ages 10 and older for the activity.
